Job Description

Responsible to assist physicians and other medical personnel to deliver care and provide information to patients.
This position consistently supports compliance and Kaiser Permanente's Code of Conduct by adhering to federal, state and local laws and regulations, accreditation and licenser requirements and Kaiser Permanente's policies and procedures.
Duties and Responsibilities of Licensed Practical Nurse
1. Monitors waiting room for patients who require immediate attention and informs appropriate staff.
2. Assists physicians to administer medical treatments and procedures.
3. Administers intravenous fluid therapy.
4. Administers oral medications and intramuscular, subcutaneous and intradermal injections.
5. Monitors patients for reactions to treatments and brings unusual situations to the attention of a provider.
6. Documents information regarding treatment and treatment outcomes into patient records.
7. Provides information to patients regarding medical procedures and tests.
8. Maintains supply of medications, ensures that medications are current.
9. Maintains a current narcotic count according to Kaiser Mid-Atlantic Nursing Policy.
10. Calls prescriptions into pharmacy when directed by physician.
11. Provides direction to medical assistants regarding patient treatment and procedures when appropriate.
12. Performs other related duties as directed.
Minimum Qualifications
Experience
. One year of experience in a clinical setting is preferred.
Education and Training
. High school diploma or equivalent.
. Successful completion of an accredited school program for Licensed Practical Nursing
License, Certifications, Other Credentials
. Current License in the appropriate jurisdiction as a Licensed Practical Nurse required.
. Current CPR certification required.
Other Qualifications
. Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
. Proficiency in the use of applicable computer software.
